Lauren Decunto MS, RDN, CDN (she/her) is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Yoga Instructor who focuses on helping individuals heal the relationships with themselves and their bodies through nutrition and the yoga asana. Born in Los Angeles to Hispanic parents, she lived over 20 years in Buenos Aires for most of her life, from where she then embarked on a life-changing journey to NYC in 2016.

From an early age, Lauren understood the deep-rooted interconnection between mind and body. The yoga practice, along with her life-long interest in the science of Nutrition, became an essential part of her life as she navigated the healing of trauma.  As she deepened her practice in yoga, she experienced the union that exists between mind and body through the asana, pranayama (breath work), and meditation. Such practices, along with physically nourishing her body with wholesome meals, became paramount in her life, and further fed her passion for health and well-being.

Lauren graduated from Universidad Austral from the school of Communications, and worked as a journalist and internal communications administrator in the healthcare field for 7 years in Buenos Aires. She completed her Master’s in Nutrition Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, where immediately she became passionate and immersed in many aspects of the nutrition field. Among them, learning about the inequities in the food and healthcare systems has made her an advocate for food equity, food justice, sustainable food systems, and bridging the gap between the disparities in the food and healthcare systems.

Lauren has been teaching yoga asana since 2017, immediately after completing her 500-hr yoga training at Atmananda Yoga School in 2017. Her passion for teaching yoga led her to further expand her interest in additional training. She received her prenatal yoga certification from Integral Yoga Institute in 2018, and in 2019 fulfilled her second second 300-hr training under the guidance of Jared McCann and Rebecca Causey at Lighthouse Yoga School.

She has several years’ experience working with a diversity of populations, including adolescents, fostering values such as compassion, along with a non-diet approach. Her integral experience of finding a balance between mind, body, and healing became of the utmost inspiration to dedicate her life and profession to helping others. Today she feels honored to dedicate her career and expertise to reach that purpose.

Lauren comes from a family of healthcare professionals and artists, and enjoys playing the piano, guitar, and singing. She finds that immersing herself in art allows a creative outlet of expression and self-growth.
